Dr Josias Padi is a passionate and self-driven Interventional Radiologist. Interventional radiology (IR) is a subspecialty of radiology where minimally invasive procedures are performed using imaging guidance, often as an alternative to surgery. Dr Padi has specialised in general radiology and then gained further experience with interventional techniques.

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

Interventional radiology or IR is a relatively new speciality when compared to traditional specialities such as surgery and general medicine.  IR is evolving at a rapid pace and is responsible for numerous innovations such as angioplasty, stent insertion and tumour embolisation. Also, the procedures are all performed using the latest imaging equipment as well as innovative medical devices and catheters.

Typical advantages include minimal access (e.g. small nick in the skin), no need for general anaesthetic, quicker recovery and fewer complications. An important concept with IR is that the speciality thrives on a multi-disciplinary or teamwork approach to healthcare where treatment decisions are made following close communication with other medical specialists.

Dr Josias Padi is highly experienced in hepato-biliary work, uterine artery embolisation, bronchial artery embolisation, prostate artery embolisation, general angiography, Nephrostomy, Pigtail abscess drainage, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) reporting, ultrasound reporting and ultrasound-guided procedures.

In addition to Dr Padi’s vast experience, he focuses on patient care and strives to resolve complex issues of IR.
